Adoption

Fill out the application and e-mail it to info@petropolisinc.org or fax it back to us. We will contact you within a few days, either via phone or e-mail. At this time, we can give you more information about the pet(s) you are interested in and find out just what you're looking for in your new family member, such as personality, physical characteristics, activity level, etc.
Once we verify your information, if it seems like we have a good match we'll set up a time for you to meet. We encourage everyone in the household, including other dogs, to be present to ensure that it's the right fit. After that, you can take your new friend home!
PLEASE NOTE THAT, WHEREAS ANYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND OUR OFF-SITE ADOPTION EVENTS, WE DO REQUIRE A COMPLETED ADOPTION APPLICATION PRIOR TO ARRANGING AN INDIVIDUAL INTRODUCTION AT ONE OF OUR FOSTER HOMES.
This is for your sake as much as for ours. Our adoption applications do not obligate you to adopt in any way, but they are our starting point in determining whether the animal you are interested is an appropriate match for what you're seeking. If not, we would hate to waste everyone's time and would much prefer to direct you to a pet that does suit your needs!
In the event that an animal receives multiple inquiries, our policy is "first come, first served" among all approved, well-suited applicants. If we must decide between potential adopters and you don't get the pet you were hoping for, don't despair. We'll be happy to work with you to find another pet in need that is perfect for your family.
That being said, we welcome any and all inquiries about our available pets and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

CATS/KITTENS $100
SENIOR CATS $80

Why do we charge more for puppies and purebreds? In our case, it's less about demand and more about subsidizing some of our older, less sought-after pets. Although frequently our youngsters arrive with health issues necessitating the expenditure of well over their set adoption fee, even in the event that a pup comes and goes without incident, your adoption fee is still used to help needy animals. Whether it's used for heart medication for one of our seniors or to remove a mammary tumor from a female dog left unspayed, every bit of your adoption fee helps another homeless pet find hope and--ultimately--a home.
